Share your idea with us
We work with colleagues from across the University on collaborative projects relating to a wide variety of areas. If you have
an idea for a project or area of priority that we can help with, please contact us.
The essence of our work is collaboration. Every year we are involved in a number of collaborative projects, ranging from curriculum innovation to the
development of central resources for both students and staff, whenever possible involving students in the project team, often as researchers or consultants.
Recent collaborations
- We are currently working with the Proficio team to provide first class
advanced training opportunities for doctoral students.
- The “Internationalising the Curriculum” toolkit (.pdf) was developed and written by two Essex students
and is aimed at staff who are interested in internationalising their courses.
- The In Practice learning and teaching journal is a joint initiative between all academic departments, coordinated
by Learning and Development.
- The Essex digital world map was developed by undergraduate student Jamie Chapman. It maps the location data of more than 100,000 Essex students dating back to
1972 and allows us to see the geographical reach of our student body.
- The Knowledge Bank is a University-wide repository of work-based learning (WBL) resources which aims to increase the amount of WBL activity across campus and
further enhance the quality of existing practice. It will be available soon.
- We worked with the Employability and Careers Centre to develop the Essex CV pack which takes students
through the CV-writing process.
- Tower Publishing is the University's student-only publishing house. It aims to publish a range of student work, most notably through its flagship venture,
ESTRO (Essex Student Research Online), and also organises activities and training for students through the
Faculty of Humanities.
- The University has introduced a departmental adviser system, giving all students access
to a named adviser within their department.
- In the autumn term we worked with the Employability and Careers Centre to put together a half-day event for new undergraduates, discussing the
building of employability skills from day one.
