to your role and responsibilities.
We run various events for new members of staff. Places can be booked via our events calendar which

Welcome Conference

The Welcome Conference is a one-day event which offers you a chance to meet the Vice-Chancellor and senior management team, network with colleagues
from across the University, find out about the support and opportunities that are available to you as a new member of staff and begin your compulsory
training relating to health and safety.
The conference runs twice a year at the Colchester campus, where it is open to staff from all campuses. It is also run periodically at the Southend
campus, where it is tailored to staff based at Southend and Loughton. If you work at either Southend or Loughton then you should attend the Welcome Conference
that is most convenient and closest to your starting date.
Joining the Practitioner Network Conference: Graduate Demonstrators and Lab Assistants

This one-day conference is designed for Graduate Demonstrators and Lab Assistants. It provides an opportunity to meet fellow demonstrators, learn more about teaching in labs
and workshops, hear about the experiences of colleagues, and complete your compulsory Equality and Diversity training.
Joining the Practitioner Network Conference: Academics and Graduate Teachers

This conference is for anyone whose role involves teaching but is aimed primarily at graduate teaching assistants, and at lecturing
staff who are in the early stages of their career and/or are new to the UK context. It is held at the Colchester campus over two
days and is a chance to attend a range of learning and teaching related sessions, hear about the experiences of fellow lecturers
and graduates, and find out about the support services available to students on campus.
For new lecturing staff, this event serves as the induction to both the PG Cert in
Higher Education Practice (PG CHEP), and the Cadenza programme, both of
which are pathways to achieving Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
For Graduate Teachers, this event allows you to complete a substantial part of your training requirement, including the opportunity
to undertake your compulsory Equality and Diversity training.
