Learning and Development

Learning and Development for GTAs/GLAs/GDs

All graduates who teach are required to complete the training requirement outlined in the Code of Practice on Teaching and Demonstrating by Graduate Students. In order to achieve this you need to attend at least 12 hours of workshop sessions within the term that you start teaching. (Normally, this would mean between four to six different workshop sessions.)  The most effective way to do this is to attend the Joining the Practitioner Network conference which takes place on 21-22 September.

Please note that you also need to complete Module 1 of the on-line Equality & Diversity course in order to be eligible for the Attendance Certificate. Please contact Learning and Development for information on how to access this course on-line.

As a Graduate Demonstrator or Graduate Laboratory Assistant (GD/GLA)

Within the term that you start teaching, you need to attend the 'Teaching in Laboratories & Workshops' session.

Please note that you also need to complete Module 1 of the on-line Equality & Diversity course in order to be eligible for the Attendance Certificate. Please contact Learning and Development regarding how to access this course on-line.
