Modern languages courses
Our undergraduate courses in modern languages have a triple focus on developing
language proficiency, cultural awareness and professional skills. Immersed
in an authentic language learning environment from the outset, you can study up
to four languages, choosing from
French, German,
Italian,
Mandarin Chinese,
Portuguese
or
Spanish and be taught by native or bilingual speakers.
Most of our courses are four years in length and you spend your third
year studying abroad at one of our partner
institutions in the country of the language you are learning. You may also
optionally spend your year abroad working as a language assistant.
We provide extensive
modern
languages resources, which include films, audio material, newspapers and
magazines that are easily accessible in our Department and libraries.
