Academic problems
Your first point of contact should be your class teacher. If problems
persist, you can speak to the person in charge of the module or course and
then to your course director. If none of these people can deal with the
problem, then you should contact the relevant administrator.
Postgraduate taught students should raise any issues with their module director
or with the Course Director of the MA they are registered on for wider academic issues.
If you are a research student then you should discuss any problems with
your Supervisor. If this does not help, then please speak to one of the
people on your research committee or the
Graduate Research Co-ordinator.
Personal problems
If you have personal problems please feel free to discuss them with any
member of staff that you feel comfortable with. If you do not know who you
would like to speak to, the Department has an advising team. All students
are free to contact the following members of the team:
The team members listed below work with students in specific years and
subjects:
Research students should contact their supervisor in the first instance, but can also contact
Dr Beatriz De Paiva, Senior Adviser in the Department.
If you need to speak to someone as a matter of urgency, please contact
the Undergraduate or Postgraduate Administrator
to find out who is available on a particular day.
Several different surveys are conducted each year and we encourage all
students to complete them as they provide us with valuable feedback and
inform improvements that we make.
Our Department runs annual undergraduate surveys for both individual
modules and individual courses. There is also an annual University-wide
student survey, as well as the
National Student Survey.
