Module Description
A module for those students who have passed their year abroad or for students who have achieved a high level in the language.

Pre-requisites: Open to students who have passed LA440 and/or LA450 and have done successfully at least 16 weeks in a Spanish-speaking country. The level required is C1 of the European Framework for Languages as explained below.

C1 Students should be able: to understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning;  to express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions; to use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes; to produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module students will be able to use different advanced varieties of written and spoken Spanish; analyse Spanish and Latin American prose; write reports, commentaries, essays and exposes; use spoken Spanish to show a range of styles and emotions in conversations, exchanges, presentations, situationals, debates and seminars; and would also have acquired a set of transferable and cognitive skills. Students will achieve level C2 of the Common European Framework on successful completion of the module.

C2 Students should be able:  to understand with ease virtually everything heard or read; to summarise information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation; to express themselves spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations.
