Prerequisite for entry: A Level Spanish or equivalent.

This introductory accelerated Portuguese module is especially devised for students with A-level Spanish knowledge. It aims to develop written, aural/oral and reading skills in Portuguese to an advanced level. Students will also be introduced to aspects of Brazilian/Portuguese culture.

 At the end of the module students should be able to: 

Understand and evaluate the gist of short texts from newspapers and magazines and also short literary texts.

Write letters and short compositions on different non-specialized topics.

Interact in everyday oral situations.

Understand the gist of aural texts in the form of dialogues, interviews etc.

Understand and use the principle grammatical features of Portuguese.

Appreciate key facets of Brazilian cultural and social reality.
