After completing her MA in Applied Linguistics at Reading University (1991), she
taught Italian at Reading
University, King's College London, The European Business School and The
Royal Academy of Music in London.
She set and assessed exams for The Institute of Linguists and for the Foreign Office.
She has been teaching Italian at Essex University since 1998.
Teaching and Research Interests: She is interested in syllabus design, cinema and contemporary literature, CALL and techniques for developing practical language skills (translating, interpreting, subtitling, presenting).

She joined the University of Essex in 2001, having previously
studied and taught at Lancaster University. Daniela
generally teaches Italian from beginner to intermediate level and she is
also in charge of La dolce Italia, a culture
course for language specialists.
In the nineties, she taught various courses at the Vrije Universiteit in
Amsterdam, the University of Portsmouth and
the Centro Italiano in Naples. She is interested in developing reading
and listening skills, teaching with music and drama and using story
telling and narrative in the classroom.
Daniela is director of LA610 Initial Italian, LA620 Elementary Italian, LA630 Intermediate Italian, and LA647 La Dolce Italia: A Journey Across Popular Traditions.
