Pre Requisite for entry: Pass "A"  level with A, B or C grade or a pass in LA621/622 - Intensive Initial Italian.

The aim of the module is to enable you to acquire advanced knowledge of Italian and improve your command of the language. The module runs for 4 hours a week over 31 weeks. It is taught entirely in Italian.

The weekly schedule is organised in different sessions during which you will improve and consolidate your language strategies and skills by: a) reading extensively and from a variety of sources; b) debating on different topics in class; c) studying grammar in depth, focussing on language structure in order to improve accuracy; d) writing summaries, reports and short essays; e) Listening and viewing activities based on radio, TV programmes and a variety of audio-video material.

For the study of structure and functions of the language we use:  

Magari! by A.De Giuli, C.Guastalla and C.M.Naddeo.  You will also have access to a wide selection of supplementary material.

Tandem project with the University of Cagliari: On a weekly basis you will be assigned tasks for Skype meetings with Italian students of English . The language of the meetings will be for half of the time English and for the other half Italian.
