Pre Requisite for entry: Prerequisite for entry: Pass LA620 – Elementary Italian or equivalent.

Entry test available for students with international background and no formal qualifications.

List of topics covered during class time:

Being able to understand and take part in a conversation in Italian (the module focuses on speaking and listening skills), being able to report and summarise (we will work a lot on reading skills), being  able to talk about present, past and future events, being able to identify the correct register without looking at a script, being able to express likes and dislikes, being able to recommend and give advice, being able to describe briefly Italian regions, being able to analyse some Italian fiction.  

 M ain features of the module:

You will be partially taught in the target language (Italian).

You will be assessed by coursework (50%) and a final exam (50%).

You will work a lot on speaking and listening.

You will do some reading of contemporary Italian fiction.

You will learn about some Italian regions.

The module material is uploaded on the university’s CMR (Course Materials Repository). There is not a textbook to buy.

You will be given free access to a wide selection of Italian magazines, easy readers with CDs and Italian DVDs
