Module Description
This is a double module that runs for 6 hours a week, over 23 weeks. It is complemented by a consolidation summer course in Italy (4 weeks). From none or little knowledge of Italian, it aims to enable you to attain an intermediate level of Italian equivalent to (B1). It is the compulsory path for those students with no knowledge of Italian who intend to take the study of the language to Proficiency (C1) or Mastery level (C2).
You may also take this module without attending the course in Italy. Your exit level in this case would be equivalent to Elementary LA620 (A2).
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module you should be able to read, analyse, discuss and summarise (both orally and in writing) in English and Italian texts taken from a variety of sources. You should also be able to make oral presentations in a clear and orderly way.
You should be able to write letters on various topics.
You should reach a good level of understanding of Italian and be able to hold basic conversation in Italian
Learning & Teaching MethodsIn our classes, we use an inductive communicative approach, complemented by a variety of activities meant to facilitate the learning of the language structures and functions. Students are expected to take active participation individually and in group activities.
