Pre Requisite for entry: Overall Pass (40%) in LA610 - Initial Italian or GCSE in Italian or equivalent
List of topics covered during class time: Describing people and places, being able to talk about past and future events, being able to give advice and instructions, being able to express wishes, being able to understand some idioms, being able to use your own skills to expand vocabulary, describing some Italian cities such as Milano, Bologna, Firenze and Roma.
Main features of the module:
It works either as a follow-up to LA610 or a complete beginner course for those who have a strong language background/commitment (e.g. native Spanish Modern Languages students).
By the end of the classes you will have developed a good range of vocabulary.
By the end of the classes you will be able to talk and write about Italian cities such as Milano, Bologna, Firenze, and Roma.
By the end of the classes you will be more confident about using present, past and future tenses.
By the end of the classes you will be able to use some idioms and more complex structures (giving advice and instructions).
The module is assessed by coursework (50%) and a final exam (50%).
We will be using a main textbook Un giorno in Italia 1.
You will be given free access to a wide selection of Italian magazines, easy readers with CDs and Italian DVDs.
Some module material is uploaded on the university’s CMR (Course Materials Repository).
