Degrees Programmes offering German as a Major language
LA221/LA222 - Intensive Initial German
This fast-track module is open to students who wish to take German as a major language, but do not have the required entry qualification of A-level German or equivalent. It incorporates a special intensive first year programme including a vacation module in Germany.
From little or no knowledge of German, students are expected to reach near A-level standard in one year of study, after which students can go on to advanced German modules. Part of the module is a four week intensive vacation module in Germany during the summer. This applies only if German is taken as a major language, i.e. finishing with level 5 or 6 German. Language option, self-funded or occasional students can take the vacation module at their own expense if they wish.
