This module is open to students who previously passed LA150 Proficiency Level French and who have spent a minimum of 16 weeks in a francophone country. We introduce a more vocational focus, with the emphasis on refining and developing the language skills you will need in your future careers. We concentrate particularly on specialist vocabulary, the comprehension and evaluation of complex information and on collaborative research into topical issues leading to oral presentations. We work with authentic materials from sources such as television, the press and the internet. We will concentrate on current affairs (the political, social, economic and cultural context) to deepen the knowledge of French civilisation that you will have acquired particularly during your study period in France. There are also a number of set books to be studied.
