Here at the Department of Language and Linguistics of the University of Essex in Colchester we have been offering courses in Modern Languages for four decades, specialising in 5 major West European languages (French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish).

We offer an impressive range of Modern Language degrees in various combinations. We were the first Modern Languages Department to offer a four languages degree.
