In Practice

University of Essex

In Practice

Conversations. Research. Ideas.

In Practice is the University’s new publication that is dedicated to teaching practice, written by academics for academics. It is based in Learning and Development.

Vol 1 No 2 - out now

The publication offers an in-depth look at teaching-related research and projects at the University, and aims to provide innovative ideas and an insight into what colleagues are doing. It charts developments and provides a natural publication outlet for TALIF grant-holders, participants of CHEP, and any other members of staff involved in relevant activities. It is principally online but limited hardcopies of each issue are available at Learning and Development events.

Our main aims

  • To encourage a scholarly approach to learning and teaching at Essex
  • To establish a community of practice among innovators
  • To showcase innovations and excellence in teaching at Essex, its partner institutions and beyond
  • To provide a means for CHEP assignments and TALIF projects to be more widely disseminated
  • To positively impact on the learning experience of Essex students

Publication

Vol 1 No 2 is now available for the Autumn term 2013 covering the theme Living and Learning, with Wayne Martin, Philosophy as guest editor. In Practice is published twice yearly.

Vol 1 No 1 is still available for the Spring term 2013 covering the theme Crossing Boundaries, with Nigel South, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Partnerships) as guest editor. In Practice is published twice yearly.
