Access your email

You can access your email through two supported methods: Microsoft Outlook 2010 and Webmail.

Microsoft Outlook 2010 (on campus)

Microsoft Outlook 2010 is our supported method of reading email on campus and gives you access to your email, calendar, contacts and tasks.

To open Outlook 2010: On any lab or staff PC, go to StartAll ProgramsMicrosoft OfficeMicrosoft Outlook 2010

Webmail (off campus)

Webmail is our supported method of reading email off campus (you can also use Webmail on campus if you prefer it to Outlook 2010).

Go to https://email.essex.ac.uk/ and sign in with your University email address and password.

Set up email on your personal computer or mobile device

Setting up your email is a bit like setting up a new computer: You do it only once. After you configure your email account, you never have to hassle with it again - unless, of course, you get a new computer or device.

Know what service you're using

We currently operate two email services at Essex: an on-site Exchange service and a Microsoft Office 365 service. We are now in the process of moving all staff and student email to Office 365 by the end of 2014. In the meantime it's important to know which service you are on because the setup instructions may differ.

1. To find our what service you're on, go to http://email.essex.ac.uk and sign in.

a. If you see the yellow bar, you're using the on-site Exchange service.
