Research at the International Academy

An Overview

Albert Sloman Library

This is an important year for the International Academy as it moves towards becoming a more research-active department committed to encouraging all staff to pursue research interests.

The objective is to make the department a more intellectually stimulating environment and to enhance its global profile and reputation. It is recognised that many will not see research as part of their future role in the department but it is hoped that all will feel able to contribute to this development in some way by, for example, offering support to those presenting their research findings and ideas in seminars and elsewhere. To help facilitate this transition, there are now dedicated pages on the IA website giving details of conferences, journals, outside sources of funding and, to encourage collaborative work, details of colleagues’ research activities and interests.

It has become increasingly clear that in order to attract the best home and overseas students and staff we must make every effort to ensure that the International Academy, while remaining committed to the highest standards of teaching, establishes itself as a centre of excellence for internationally recognised research. Let us do what we can this year to make it happen.
