Four-Year BA/BSc Degrees
Who are the courses for?
These four-year degrees include
Year Zero, an integrated foundation year in a chosen subject area,
followed by three years of undergraduate study. With a lower entry
requirement than a three-year degree, and a carefully structured foundation
year zero, these courses offer a route to a degree that would not otherwise
be available to many students. The additional feature of this route is
the possibility to take an
accelerated route and graduate within three calendar years.
These are
innovative courses in the UK and offer opportunities not available elsewhere
for students whose qualifications would otherwise only give the option of a
four-year route.
What four-year degree can I apply for?
* Courses marked with an asterix have the accelerated route option.
What is the accelerated route?
After the first two terms you
have the option of sitting examinations to enter the accelerated route
on particular courses.
The accelerated route is designed for students who excel in their
subjects, and successful completion allows direct entry to the second year
of study making graduation possible in three years. However, if you
are unable to meet the requirements for entry directly into the second
year of the degree course in October, you will progress into the first
year instead.
Taking the accelerated route means that you would have to be
here in the summer term and the summer vacation (terms three and
four, weeks 30-49) in order to do the year one syllabus and take the exams
in September. The following diagram represents both routes:
How do I apply for these degrees?
You initially apply through UCAS to study on the four-year degrees.
