Teacher Training and Teacher Education
The
MA TESOL is designed for experienced teachers
of English from the UK and abroad at secondary level and above. This
course provides the participants with the opportunity to update and
extend their knowledge of current concepts and theories relating to
TESOL methodology and practice. Throughout the course, emphasis is
placed on the practical application of the theoretical
bases of TESOL to classroom practice within an expanding global teaching
environment. In order to reflect the link between theory and
practice, micro-teaching, collaborative classroom observation and small
scale research form part of the assessment.
The MA TESOL will be particularly attractive to practising teachers
who are unable to leave their employment for a full year, as each
component can be considered as a complete course. The credits awarded at
each exit point can be accumulated and transferred to the next stage of
the course. You can therefore build up sufficient credits to progress
through the different levels, that is from 60 credits (Postgraduate
Certificate TESOL) to 120 credits (Postgraduate
Diploma TESOL) and 180 credits (Master). Delivery is also flexible
as you can either study full time (for one year), part time (over two
years) or by modular study (up to six years).
The course is delivered in taught input sessions and workshops followed by
teaching practice each week so that you put what you learn into practice right
away. You will also observe experienced, qualified English language teachers as
part of your course.
CELTA is the pre-service teacher
training course. It is intensive, stimulating, practical and fun. It is also
internationally recognised.
