Students of Tamagawa University in the second or third year
of undergraduate study.
Programme Type
6-month Pre-Sessional preparation followed by a 6-month
Junior Year Abroad Scheme.
Programme Length
12 months (April to March), related to the Japanese Academic
Year.
Aims
The Pre-Sessional Programme is a course in English for
academic purposes which also provides an introduction to modes of teaching
and learning at a UK university, and an introduction to living and studying
in Britain.
Junior Year Abroad to give students the experience of participating on
degree level courses in subjects of the students own choosing.
Course Details
On the Pre-Sessional programme students are streamed by
proficiency level for language development classes, and by subject of study
for academic project classes. The Pre-Sessional programme welcomes students
from around the world. The programme provides Junior Year Abroad students
with the opportunity to meet students from many other countries and from
departments across the University.
Following successful completion of the Pre-Sessional
Programme, students enter undergraduate scheme modules, completing the same
assignments as regular students. In addition to regular course tutorials,
the University International Programmes Office provides extra support to all
Junior Year Abroad Students. (link to International Programmes website)
Students receive credit from the Pre-Sessional programme and
their host departments which are contribute to their home scheme of study.
