Essex module: 4 months (September - December)

Aims

The Essex component of the programme provides training in Advanced English for Academic Purposes followed by a diploma level course in TEFL methodology.

Essex module: following an initial orientation week, participants join the Centre's Pre-Sessional programme for one month intensive EAP training. During this portion of the course, the teachers complete an academic project of 2,000 words plus oral presentation. The remainder of the programme focuses on TEFL methodology during which the teachers undertake a second project related to areas of their own interest (within the field of ELT). A key component of the methodology programme is a series of visits to local secondary schools.
