English Classes for Dependants of International Students and Staff (ECDIS)

English classes are run at the University for partners and other adult relatives of international students and staff in the Autumn and Spring terms. These classes are free. There are currently beginner, intermediate and advanced classes. Further information can be obtained directly from the International Academy Office 4.111.

Classes & More Information

Elementary Class:

This class is for beginners and covers basic survival English.

Intermediate Classes:

These classes are for students who already speak some English.

Advanced Class:

This class is for students who have good control of English grammar and vocabulary.

You may attend more than one level of class i.e. intermediate and advanced.

Conversation Class:

This is open to everyone who attends the classes. The aim of the class is to develop and practise everyday conversational English. If you are taking examinations in English it also provides valuable practice for the oral papers. Students work in small groups of 2 or 3, with one English teacher per group.

Crèche:

If you have pre-school children you should apply for a Nursery place as soon as possible. If you are experiencing financial difficulties you should contact the Student Support Office for advice.
