English Language Programmes

The Essex English Language Programme (EELP)

 The EELP is for students who need to improve their general and academic English. The programme runs throughout the year.

Pre-Sessional Programme

The International Academy offers a range of programmes for students who wish to improve their English before starting a further academic course at the University of Essex.  Our aim is to provide both core language improvement and preparation in the academic skills needed for successful study in the UK.  All programmes and modules are full time.  These programmes offer language proficiency pathways to University of Essex degrees without the need to re-take IELTS or TOEFL.

In-Sessional Programme

In the Autumn and Spring terms, the International Academy offers free English language classes for students registered on full-time courses at the University of Essex. The aim of these classes is to support students in their academic studies. 

ECDIS

This programme offers partners and other adult relatives of international students and staff free of charge English language classes. There are usually classes at  beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
