Getting a student visa

If you have a valid UK or EEA passport you will not normally require a visa to study in the UK.

The UK Government is phasing in a new “Points Based Immigration System” known as Tier 4, which has applied to most students from outside the European Economic Area wishing to study in the UK since 31 March 2009.

If you are coming to the UK to study for a maximum of six months you may be able to come to the UK as a ‘student visitor’. However, you will not be allowed to work, even if it is part of your course, and you will not be allowed to apply for more time in the UK if your studies are extended.
