Scholarships

We offer many funding opportunities to support students, from University of Essex scholarships, bursaries and research council funding to awards funded by charities and other external organisations. Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships

The Vice-Chancellor has established a £150,000 scholarship fund to support international students who are funding their own studies at the University of Essex. For full details and eligibility please see our Student Finance website.

We are able to offer the following subject-specific awards at undergraduate level:

Law

Ten £1,000 scholarships for international undergraduates studying law in their first year of study

CSEE

Ten £1,000 scholarships for international undergraduates studying computer science and electronic engineering in their first year of study

Bridging Year

Ten £1,000 scholarships for international undergraduates for our Bridging Year

In addition to the subject specific scholarships, for students from the USA there is also the following country-specific undergraduate award available through this scheme:

Undergraduate

Five £2,000 scholarships for undergraduates from the USA in their first year of study

Essex Business School Postgraduate Scholarships

The Essex Business School has introduced merit-based scholarships to U.S. applicants achieving a minimum 3.5 GPA in their undergraduate degree. Applicants meeting the minimum grade requirement will automatically receive the specified fee discount. Full details of the merit-based awards can be found through our Student Finance pages.

Essex/Fulbright Commission PGT Scholarship

Open to US graduate students wishing to pursue a one-year Masters course in any subject. One scholarship of £21,000 to include tuition fees available. For more information please visit the Fullbright Commission website.

Fulbright Commission Fee Waiver Scholarship

A US graduate student wishing to pursue a one-year Masters in any subject, worth up to £11,990. For more information please visit the Fullbright Commission website.

The Fulbright-Essex University Postgrad Award

This scholarships is open to US Citizens for graduate study for one year in the UK. This award offers a full fee waiver and £10,000 towards maintenance costs. The application deadline 17 October. Find out more at the Fulbright Commission Awards website.

British Marshall Scholarship

For students to study at graduate level in the UK in any field. Up to 40 available offering tuition fees, cost of living expenses,annual book grant, thesis grant,research and daily travel grants,fares to and from the US and, where applicable, a contribution to support a dependent spouse Find out more at the Marshall Scholarships website.

Fulbright Awards

These scholarships are open to US Citizens for gradute study for one year in the UK. Typically awards will cover maintenance and a contribution towards fees. Find out more at the Fulbright Commission Awards website.
