Mature students
There is no such thing as a 'typical student'
which is why at the University of Essex we are committed to
providing support to students and potential students from a variety
of backgrounds and of varying ages.
- By working in partnership with other local
education providers we seek to promote adult education through
initiatives such as Adult Learners
Week.
- Through visits to local Access to HE
courses, and the annual Access conference during the autumn term, we
are able to give specialised support to students at the point of
application.
- Before mature students start their
undergraduate course with us we are able to give them extra support
as they make their transition back into the world of education
through the House Warming induction event and various fresher's
events aimed at mature students. (Please note that the Housewarming event is currently only open to undergraduate UK students studying at the Colchester campus)
If you work with adults who are considering
studying in higher education, or you yourself are considering
entering university as a mature student, then contact
