Governments and Corruption Volunteer - Global Witness (London)

Global Witness' Governments and Corruption Team is seeking a part time or full time volunteer. The team works to tackle high level corruption and state looting in the developing world, with a particular focus on development effectiveness and the role that governments play in fuelling and facilitating overseas corruption. The successful candidate will be supporting our research and advocacy on Global Witness’ Uganda, Afghanistan and donor policy campaigns.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build up knowledge of investigations, research and the global debate on corruption and governance as part of a small team.

The position will involve:

  • Conducting desk-based research and assisting in investigations

  • Media monitoring

  • Assisting in the compiling of new reports and briefings

  • Contributing to the team’s overall lobbying strategy

The Civic Coalition for Palestinian Rights in Jerusalem - Internship

Interns are assigned to various projects, campaigns, and tasks. These might vary according to the needs of the organization and the intern's capabilities and areas of interest.

Interns should have, or be near completion of, a degree in international law, international relations, political science, or another relevant field. Applicants with a postgraduate degree in international human rights or humanitarian law are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants should have an strong command of English and drafting abilities. Knowledge of Arabic or Hebrew is useful. Computer literacy is essential.

Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust - Internship

BLAST's internship program is designed to provide interns with exposure to public interest law, human rights legal aid and advocacy in Bangladesh, with opportunities to travel to different districts for assignments. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved with key human rights movements in a developing country as well as exploring Bangladesh.

BLAST provides legal aid, advice and representation across a range of areas, including civil, criminal, family, labor and land law, as well as on constitutional rights and remedies, providing access to judicial remedies alongside alternative dispute resolution wherever appropriate. It is extensively involved with public interest litigation (PIL) and advocacy work, and conducts investigations into human rights infringements.

René Cassin - Internships

René Cassin, a small organisation which uses the experience of the Jewish people to fight for human rights of all people, is currently seeking one or two students to assist with several ongoing projects. Projects would include:

· conducting legal research in campaign areas, assisting with producing research and advisory papers aimed at influencing government policy in campaign areas;
· scoping out areas identified as necessitating international campaigning activity;
· attending relevant UN sessions in Europe, and representing the organisation there and at other meetings and conferences;
· providing ongoing support and a point of contact for existing human rights educational initiatives;
· assisting with development and outreach work linked to achieving campaign objectives; and
· liaising with print and contributing to existing social media in order to elevate the organisation's profile.
