About EHRR
The Essex
Human Rights Review (EHRR) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary,
academic journal which aims to address contemporary human rights issues. The
EHRR is associated with the internationally renowned Essex Human Rights Centre
at the University of Essex. Sharing the Centre's international and
interdisciplinary approach to human rights theory and practice, the EHRR
embraces work from the social and political sciences, philosophy, legal studies
and literature.
The journal aims to highlight new human rights
developments through academic papers, reports on key conferences, reviews of
relevant literature, and original interviews with leading figures in the field.
The EHRR publishes biannual issues online, and annual special issues online and
in print.
The EHRR Editorial Board traditionally comprises
doctoral students from a wide range of departments at the University of Essex.
The journal is proud to have a number of outstanding human rights practitioners
and theorists on its Advisory Board, and also draws on the considerable
expertise of the Human Rights Centre and University of Essex alumni, many of
whom continue to work in the field in academic institutions, NGOs, government
departments and research establishments.

International Centre for Prison Studies (ICPS)

The
International Centre for Prison Studies assists governments and
other relevant agencies to develop appropriate policies on prisons and the use
of imprisonment. ICPS has an academic partnership with the University of Essex.
The Centre makes the results of its academic research and projects widely
available to groups and individuals, both nationally and internationally. These
include policy makers, practitioners and administrators, the media and the
general public. Such dissemination will help to increase an understanding of the
purpose of prison and what can be expected of it.
It carries out work on a project or consultancy basis for international
agencies, governmental and non-governmental organisations.
