Getting a Job After Essex
Getting a job after Essex
Many of our students aim to secure professional human
rights careers after their studies at Essex. We recognise this to be a central
motivation for many of our current and prospective students. Our goal is to
fully support our students’ pursuit of a human rights career. Essex Human Rights
Centre’s career support is comprehensive and consists of:
-
Formal internship agreements with
organisations such as UNHCR, the Council of Europe, Minority
Rights Group and several other national and international human
rights organisations.
-
Study tour to human rights organisations in
the Hague, Strasbourg and Geneva.
-
A series of vocational and professional
human rights workshops as part of our unique Right Skills for
Rights programme.
-
Speakers Series programme which enables our
students to learn from and meet established human rights
professionals.
-
Advice sessions on applying for and
undertaking internships.
-
A comprehensive internship database.
-
Almost thirty years’ experience of
preparing our graduates for human rights careers.
-
Essex human rights programmes are
internationally recognised by the global human rights community
for producing first-class graduates.
-
Academic staff who do or have occupied
senior human rights positions within organisations such as the
United Nations.
Ultimately, the clearest evidence of how studying human
rights at Essex can lead to successful human rights careers can be seen in where
Essex alumni are working.
