Consultancies

The Human Rights Centre has extensive experience providing advice and consultancy services to domestic and international governmental agencies, including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Department for International Development, Ministry of Defence, Council of Europe, OSCE, UN (including the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and field operations) and the British Council. Similar services have also been provided to non-governmental organisations such as: the International Committee of the Red Cross, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Article XIX, Minority Rights Group, the Consortium for Street Children International and Interights.

Consultancies, editorial & advisory positions

Members of the Centre have held a wide range of consultancies, editorial and advisory positions for national and international organisations. These are detailed in their profiles. Senior appointments in the field of human rights include:

  • Professor Sir Nigel Rodley was the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture (1993-2001). Since then he has been a member of the UN Human Rights Committee. Professor Rodley was awarded a knighthood in 1999 in recognition of his services to human rights and international law. [more...]
     
  • Professor Françoise Hampson was an independent expert member of the UN Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (1998-2007). In 1998, Professors Hampson and Boyle were jointly named Human Rights Lawyer of the Year for their litigation, on behalf of Kurdish applicants, at the European Court of Human Rights. [more...]
