Terms of Reference for HRC Membership

The Human Rights Centre is proud to draw its members from across the University community.

If you are a member of the academic staff at Essex and would like the opportunity to work with colleagues who are working in relevant and related fields then the Centre would like to extend an invitation to you.

Amongst the benefits members can draw on:

  • Belonging to a world-renowned Centre;

  • The Centre circulates information it receives that may be of interest to its membership;

  • The Law and Management Faculty, Grant Application Writer (Kai Yin Low) circulates full details in relation to calls for tenders, etc to our membership list and facilitates bids between members;

  • The Centre has affiliations with a number of European groups, such as Euromed and the Association of Human Rights Institutes.

Expectations

Members are expected to support the aims and activities of the Centre and we hope that expanding our membership will enable us to bring the human rights community together and give colleagues the opportunity to co-operate on projects and in other events.  Indeed we have run a number of events over the past year with different departments and centres.

Criteria:

Members should be part of the University of Essex and be actively working in human rights or a related field.   Members should also show a willingness to participate in the work of the Centre and its projects.

How to proceed:
