Performance management
A key objective in our Human Resources Strategy is to develop robust
performance management systems that reward good performance and deal with
issues of under-performance fairly and consistently.
The responsibility for performance management lies with line managers at
all levels. They are required to set standards, provide regular feedback on
performance, and to provide support and guidance as necessary.
Human Resources is committed to supporting managers at all levels in
delivering effective performance management and there are a number of
supporting policies and procedures to assist managers. These are set out
below and cover such areas as appraisal, capability, probation, reward,
discipline and sickness absence. In addition there is also guidance
available on the use of Ordinance 41 in relation to staff in Grades 7 to 11.
Link HR Managers and Officers are available to discuss and provide advice
on performance matters, and training sessions and workshops can be delivered
on demand to all areas of the University on this important area of people
management.
