Honorary Degrees
Honorary Degree Nominations
In accordance with the Ordinances, the University of Essex awards a
number of Honorary Degrees each year. They are normally presented at the Graduation
ceremonies held annually in July.
Each year nominations are collected and considered
at two meetings of the Honorary Degree Committee that take place
during the autumn term. The chosen nominees are contacted in December and January in good time
for preparations to be made for them to receive their awards in July.
Nominations are welcomed from all members of the University, as well as
external members of Council. In order to avoid unnecessary confusion and/or
embarrassment, those making nominations are asked to ensure that the person
concerned is not aware that their name has been put forward.
The deadline for 2013 nominations is Wednesday 12 October 2012
