The Department of History is delighted to announce that Professor Lynn Hunt, Distinguished Professor of History & Eugen Weber Endowed Chair in Modern European History at UCLA will visit the University of Essex on 14 June to give a special seminar entitled "Is Globalization the New Paradigm?"

Professor Hunt will discuss her book The French Revolution in Global Perspective, edited with Suzanne Desan and William Max Nelson and published by Cornell University Press in 2013, as well as reviewing her forthcoming book on the rise and fall of cultural studies and the challenge of globalization.

The discussion will be led by Professor Linda Colley, Shelby M.C. Davis 1958 Professor of History at Princeton. Professor Colley's publications include The Ordeal of Elizabeth Marsh: A Woman in World History.

The seminar starts at 2.00pm in LTB3 at the University's Colchester campus, and will be followed by a reception at around 3.30pm.
