18 March 2013: Raven lectures in Texas
Professor James Raven will be giving two speaking engagements in March at Texas A&M University (College Station TX, USA). His lecture “London Book Sites: Places of Printing and Publishing Before 1800” is sponsored by the Texas A&M Initiative for Digital Humanities, Media, and Culture. Raven will also participated in a roundtable discussion, “’Un’-Professional Publishing,” whose other participants will be Robert Hume (Penn State University), and Margaret Ezell, James Harner, and Laura Mandell (all from Texas A&M). The roundtable will examine the way in which modern conceptions of publishing can obscure our understanding of publishing practices worked in the early modern world, but also how an historical appreciation of “cottage industry” publishing might inform digital publishing.
