The Library It is now fully catalogued and can be searched on the University of Essex Library Website (www.essex.ac.uk or use the direct link on this website). Books in the Society's library are identified by an ESAH shelfmark. A readers ticket is required to use the Society’s Library, and this also allows access to (and borrowing rights from) books in the main University Library which has a particularly strong history section. The Society’s Library is accessible from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and, during university term time, during the same hours on Saturdays. Full instructions on the use of both libraries are provided when the readers ticket is issued. The Society’s Honorary Librarian is Dr Jane Pearson, Cob Cottage, Great Tey, CO6 1JS. Back numbers of some volumes of the Transactions (Essex Archaeology and History and Transactions of Essex Archaeological Society second series) can be obtained from Greyfriars Books, 92b East Hill, Colchester tel: 01206 563138 or e-mail books@gfb.uk.net. Applications for readers tickets should be made in writing to the Librarian, Albert Sloman Library, University of Essex, Wivenhoe Park, Colchester CO4 3SQ, stating that you are a member of the Society. Members with readers tickets are entitled to borrow from the University collection, but not from the Society’s Library. |
