Welcome to the School of Health and Human Sciences

We have a commitment to making a difference to local, national and international health services through education, research and knowledge transfer, thereby improving the experience of service users, carers and those who work with them.

For us collaborative working with partner organisations and service users is critical to delivering our unique product and ensuring that it is fit for purpose and in line with NHS Values. In addition, innovative teaching and progression routes ensure that we offer a wide entry gate into an academic environment.

Based in Colchester and Southend we will increasingly offer our services from both campuses, delivering foundation degrees to doctorates, research and consultancy where they are most needed.

Do you want to work for the NHS as a nurse? Visit us at our Open Evening in May!

Delivering care and compassion to people is at the very heart of nursing; the Chief Nursing Officer for England re-affirmed this commitment in 2012. If you think you could be an nurse then we can provide the intensive 2 years of training needed to qualify.

As a student nurse you study the knowledge and skills required to be a competent nurse and part of a multi-professional team. Alongside these skills we help you build the emotional competence needed to work with and support people, often in difficult times.

If you already have a relevant degree and experience in a care role we look forward to hearing from you.

To find out more about pre-registration MSc Nursing at the University of Essex, take a look here and visit us for our Postgraduate Nursing Open Evening at our Colchester Campus on Wednesday 29 May 2013 from 5.00-7.00pm.
