Induction Meeting for Research Students 

Event Date Tuesday 2 October
Event Time 2pm – 3.45pm

Event Description A meeting for all new research students (MA by Dissertation, MPhil and PhD) with the Research Director and the Graduate Administrator. This meeting will be followed by a meeting with individual supervisors. Please bring a passport size photograph with you to the meeting.

Induction Meeting for Postgraduate Taught Students

Event Description A meeting for all new students following a postgraduate taught course with the Director of Postgraduate Taught Studies and the Graduate Administrator. Please bring a passport size photograph with you to the meeting.

Welcome Reception for Postgraduate Students (Taught and Research)

Event Description A Welcome Reception for all new postgraduates. This is an opportunity to meet with other new and current students, and members of staff, and to hear matters of general interest. A finger-buffet will be provided.

Welcome Reception and Induction Meeting for Undergraduate Students

Event Description Welcome reception and induction for all new undergraduate students whether single honours Philosophy, or joint honours with Human Rights, History, Law, Literature, Politics, Economics or Sociology . Come and meet with members of staff and other new students. Talks will be given by the Head of School, Director of Undergraduate Studies, Senior Adviser and First Year Module Supervisors. You will also meet your Course Director and members of the School’s administrative team. During the meeting there will be talks on the Philosophy Society, the Students' Union and Nightline. Refreshments will be available at the start and we will finish with a finger buffet lunch when everyone can mingle and chat informally.

Meet Your Mentor: Undergraduates

Location Tony Rich Teaching Centre
Event Description Come and meet your mentor. All new students are assigned a current student as a mentor. Your mentor will help you to settle in and find your way around in the first few weeks and beyond if required.

Please note students on the BA Philosophy, Politics and Economics (Government), LLB Law and Philosophy (Law), BA Philosophy and/with Modern Languages (Language & Linguistics), will have a separate meeting organised by their own department, see specific departmental entries.

Library Tours

Event Time 10am - 10.30am and repeated 11am - 11.30am
Location Meet in 6.145 in Philosophy and Art History
Event Description Tour of Art History’s library collection. Although mainly focussing on Art History the collection may also be of interest to students studying Philosophy as well as those in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities.
