Notes

Home and EU students

For any four year courses that have a preliminary year, the first (year 0) will be charged at the lower rate of £1,310 for 2010 entry. All subsequent years will be charged at the standard Home and EU rate.

UK (Home) students may also be eligible for a University bursary and/or government grant.

Equivalent or Lower Qualifications (ELQs)

If you are applying for a degree course in 2010 but already possess a qualification at the same level, please note that you will be liable to pay an increased tuition fee for your degree course as a result of the UK Government’s policy on the funding of Higher Education. This means that if you already have a degree in a particular subject, but wish to undertake another degree course in a different discipline, you will be charged the higher fee as shown in the above table as opposed to the £3,290 fee that home students will pay if they are taking a degree for the first time. Please note that this does not apply to students who wish to study a Foundation degree, or for those wanting to undertake the Nursing undergraduate degree courses at the University’s Southend campus. Further information on Equivalent or Lower Qualifications (ELQs), is available in our Student Finance website.

NHS funded courses

Students on certain NHS funded courses within the departments of Biological Sciences and Health and Human Sciences may to be entitled to financial support from the NHS, which can cover tuition fees in full.

Industrial and clinical placements and courses involving a year abroad

Students taking a course that involves a year abroad or an industrial or clinical placement will pay half of the fee for that year, unless the placement is for a Home or EU student as part of the Erasmus exchange programme for which no fee will be charged.

All East 15 Students

An additional fee of £310 is payable in respect of Materials, Services and other Professional Expenses such as helping to pay for enhanced production budgets, showcases, transport, London venue hire, theatre visits and other expenses related to the training of acting and stage professionals.

International Academy 4/3 year accelerated route

Students who are allowed to follow the accelerated fast track route on the 4/3 year International Academy undergraduate courses will be required to pay a fee of £2,000 in addition to the fee already paid for the first year (year 0).

Students who are allowed to follow the accelerated fast track route on the 4/3 year International Academy undergraduate courses will be required to pay an additional fee. The fee for 2010/11 is still to be confirmed.
