Each of these sessions will be delivered by Val Chapman (PhD, Msc, Cert Ed, Dip RSA (SpLD), Director of the Centre for Inclusive Learning Support at the University of Worcester. Val also holds a UNESCO funded Chair in Special Education at Qatar University. She is currently on the steering group of the Higher Education Equal Opportunities Network and is a member of HEFCE’s Leadership Foundation in Higher Education Diversity Advisory Group and the Higher Education Academy’s Disability Special Interest Group.
Following each session you will be able to:
- Determine the differences between different models of disability
- Describe the impact of stereotyping
- Employ appropriate behaviour with disabled people
- Identify some of the barriers faced by disabled people both in study and work
- Identify and address discriminatory practices
