Module Enrolment - Frequently Asked Questions
Who has access?
Undergraduate students
eNROL is only available to students on programmes of study leading to a degree.
All other students should visit their Department to complete module enrolment.
Postgraduate students
eNROL is only accessible to full time taught
postgraduate students on courses of study.
Why do I need to complete Module Enrolment?
eNROL is currently open to enable you to make changes to options for Spring (SP) term or Spring/Summer (PS) terms. You will only be able to change these options. They must be changed by 10.00 Monday of Week 18). All changes to your module enrolment must also be processed by this date. Changes after this date are not guaranteed because you will have missed 2 weeks of tuition. If, when you go to eNROL, you find that any of your modules for Autumn (AU) or Full Year (FY) are incorrect, please notify the eNROL team immediately - email: enrol@essex.ac.ukWhen must I complete Module Enrolment?
eNROL will be open from 10:00 Wednesday of Week 8 to 10.00 Monday of week 18.
Does eNROL know what modules I am eligible to choose?
Yes. eNROL is personalised so it will display the modules available for your year of study and course. eNROL also displays, for information, the modules that you are currently studying and those studied in your first year if applicable. If you need to have taken a particular pre-requisite to study a module you are interested in, eNROL will check your previous modules and will only allow you to choose modules for which you have the relevant pre-requisites. If you choose an invalid module, it will simply ask you to choose again.
What if I want to change to a different course?
Changes to courses are not permitted at this time of year. Please see your department to discuss future changes.
When do I find out if my choices have been successful?
When you choose/amend an option module, the enrolment is regarded as provisional until it has been confirmed by the department offering the module. As soon as you have entered your choices in the system, the information is available for departments to view through the central student record system. Departments will review your choices and will send you automated emails to confirm that the enrolment has been approved, or advising why it cannot be approved. Some departments will review the choices daily, others less frequently, according to the needs of the department. For example, in departments which do not control numbers on modules, they may wait until the end of module enrolment and then confirm enrolments in bulk. Do not be alarmed if you do not receive feedback immediately!
What happens if I change my mind?
If you have not received confirmation of the enrolment from the department, you may return to this system and amend your choices whilst eNROL is available. Once the enrolments have been confirmed, you cannot make any changes in eNROL and you must visit the department to discuss changes.
Can I make any changes to my Autumn (AU) or Full Time (FY) modules?
No. The University allows students to make changes to module enrolment, with approval, until the end of the second week of the Spring term for SP (Spring) or PS (Spring/Summer) modules only. If you find you need to change an AU (Autumn) or FY (Full Year) module because your record is incorrect, please notify the eNROL team immediately - email: enrol@essex.ac.uk
What if my chosen modules are capped?
Where modules are restricted in size, eNROL knows how many students may take the module and how many spaces are available at the time that you are choosing your modules. eNROL will alert you if you choose a module that is already full and invite you to choose again. Where a department wishes to manage a waiting list, eNROL will enable additional students to choose the module and you will be advised by the department that you are on a waiting list.
