Online Coursework Submission
The Online Coursework Submission (OCS) system allows you to
submit digital copies of assignments to your department via the
internet.
- First, check that your department is using OCS for coursework
submission.
- If so, access the OCS at:
https://courses.essex.ac.uk/ocs/ (This will require
your Essex username and password). You will also find links for
the OCS from the 'myStudy' channel
in myEssex.
- When you first visit
OCS you will be directed to read the University's Plagiarism
website. It is essential that you read this information.
- When you click on the Student Assignments link, you will see a list of courses that you are enrolled on.
- Click on the name of the course that you wish to submit work
to.
- Every student can
practice using OCS (with non-coursework documents) using the 'OCS111-1:
ONLINE COURSEWORK SUBMISSION TEST COURSE' . However, you must not
submit final coursework to this test course.
- Further instructions are available in the "Online
Coursework Assignment Quick Start" (PDF). To view this
document, you will need the free
Adobe Reader.
- Instructions are also available on the Help pages (via the
link at the top of the OCS page).
If your department
requires your coursework to be "watermarked", they will tell you.
Watermarking involves the addition of a unique code to a PDF version
of your uploaded coursework. This code allows your department to
verify that the paper and electronic coursework submissions are
identical, as well as the exact time and date of submission.
Depending on how busy the system is, it will take a variable amount
of time for your watermarked copy to be produced (always leave
sufficient time for this if you have to meet a paper submission
deadline, it is recommended you leave at least an hour for the
watermarked copy to be returned to you).
