Moodle
How to access Moodle
You can access Moodle through a web browser
(such as Internet Explorer or Firefox) on any internet-connected
computer. This means that you can access from home as easily as you
can from your office on campus.
To access Moodle, go to: http://moodle.essex.ac.uk
You should then see the homepage of Moodle, similar to the screenshot below:

Logging into Moodle
On the left-hand side of the screen, you should see a
login box. Type your University username and password into
the appropriate textboxes and then click on the 'login' button. You do not need to add 'campus\' before your username.

If you have problems logging into Moodle, please contact the Learning Technology Team (email: ltt, non-Essex users should add @essex.ac.uk).
After logging in, you will see your 'My Courses' screen:

To access a course in Moodle, just click on the name of the course
in the 'My courses' list. This should take you to the home page of
the course.
The different roles in Moodle
If you are new to Moodle, it is important to appreciate the different roles that can be assigned which allow access to different features to the Moodle environment. The current roles are:
- Teacher - can populate a course with resources and activities,
as well as provide student feedback.
- Non-editing Teacher - can teach in courses and grade students,
but may not alter activities.
- Student - can interact with course content and participate in
activities and assignments.
- Guest - can view areas of the course, but not participate in any
way.
Your role is course dependent, i.e. you could be a teacher on one course and then be a student on another course.
