Rationale

International political theory (IPT) is a fast-growing field. Broadly, it applies a philosophical mode of enquiry to international politics.  IPT brings together political philosophers whose interests are wholly or predominantly in international affairs with scholars of international politics or the EU whose interests are philosophical or ethical in character.

Aims & activities

  • to facilitate the exchange of ideas and flow of information
  • foster collaborative work
  • catalyse joint research proposals
  • initiate new research agendas
  • advance the development of international political theory
  • promote and consolidate IPT as a distinct area of the discipline.

Initial objectives include:

  • a dedicated website
  • a mailing list.  To join, send an email to ecpr@essex.ac.uk requesting to join the list
  • section and panel proposals to ECPR conferences and joint sessions
  • quarterly mailings of IPT Beacon (http://www.international-political-theory.net/)

This is a new group.  Website and mailing functions will be developed in the coming months.  In the meantime the convenors would welcome hearing from members what functions/services they would find it useful to have provided.
