essex 2006 graduate conference

Book Exhibition

The ECPR Graduate Conference is a new event in the association's calendar and provides a conventional academic forum for graduate students to gain experience in proposing, presenting and listening to papers. The first ECPR Graduate Conference will take place in September 2006 at the University of Essex .

The keynote lecture will be delivered by Professor Charles Tilly of Columbia University , whose work inspires the overall theme of the conference. Like the ECPR's general conference, the conference format will consist of open and themed panels, with the topics covered being as broad as possible. There will also be a number of roundtables of invited speakers on such issues as getting published and doctoral training. A Book Exhibition is planned to run throughout the conference. This is an excellent and unique opportunity for you to display your publications to a new younger audience.

Benefits for publishers with their own stand:

  • The opportunity to meet with younger members of the profession from all the major areas of political science, along with students from other related disciplines of sociology, economics, geography, history and law;
  • A publishers' reception is held in the book exhibition area in the evening of the registration day, paid out of the charges for participation in the book exhibition;
  • You can distribute leaflets (not catalogues) in the conference wallets;
  • Your corporate logo and a link to your website on the exhibitors section of the website.

Benefits of displaying your titles on the ECPR stand (for smaller publishers only):

  • Your publications are displayed at a flat rate of £100 (with no limit on the number of titles) on the ECPR Book Stand (on a non-returnable basis) which is permanently staffed by ECPR personnel throughout the entire conference;
  • Web space, including your corporate logo, on the exhibitors section of our website;
  • The display of your books/journals in a central location for the whole of the conference;
  • Listing of your titles (with ordering information) displayed on the ECPR Book Stand in our 'Catalogue of Publications' which is available free to all participants and will also be available on our website as a .pdf document before and after the conference;
  • The display of promotional material on the ECPR book stand, including branded carrier bags, pens, pencils etc;
  • You can distribute leaflets (not catalogues) in the conference wallets;
  • There is an opportunity to display publications in English and other languages;
  • Orders for books and journals (plus requests for inspection copies) can be taken on your behalf using ECPR order forms and will be sent to the publishers upon our return from the conference.
