James Robinson: The Persistence and Change of Institutions

Photo: James RobinsonThe Department of Economics is pleased to confirm that the 2007 lectures were delivered on 6th and 7th November 2007 by Professor James Robinson of Harvard University.  In these lectures, James Robinson presented recent research (joint with Daron Acemoglu of MIT) on institutions, work that integrates political economy models with historical case studies.

  • Lecture 1: Tuesday 6th November — The Persistence of Elites 16.00-18.00
     
  • Lecture 2: Wednesday 7th November — The Circulation of Elites 10.30-12.30
     
  • Lecture 3: Wednesday 7th November — The Iron Law of Oligarchy 14.30-16.30

It is expected that the lectures will be published, in due course, by the Oxford University Press.
