Information for Prospective Undergraduates

4-year programmes

There are two types of 4-year economics degrees at Essex: "year abroad" schemes and "foundation year" schemes.

Year abroad schemes

For these degrees the third year is spent studying at one of the University's partner institutions in Europe or elsewhere. Currently, the following schemes are offered:

Foundation year schemes

These degrees are intended for students who have yet to show evidence of study at the required standard for admission to the first year of the 3-year degrees. Here students spent the foundation year, "year 0", in the International Academy. Upon successful completion of year 0, students enter the first year of the associated 3-year degree. The following degrees are available:

  • L103 BSc Economics (4yr BSc/F)
  • L118 BA Financial Economics (4yr BA/F)
  • L117 BSc Financial Economics (4yr BSc/F)
  • L160 BA International Economics (4yr BA/F)
  • L161 BSc International Economics (4yr BSc/F)
  • L190 BA Management Economics (4yr BA/F)
  • L191 BSc Management Economics (4yr BSc/F)
