Information for Prospective Students
English Language Requirements
All entrants who are non-native speakers of English must
provide evidence that they can understand and express
themselves in written and spoken English at a sufficiently
high standard.
The normal requirements for admission to an undergraduate
Economics degree schemes
are as follows:
- IELTS (Academic version of the International
English Language Testing Service): at least 6.0 overall.
- CPE
(Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English):
grade A, B, or C.
- TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language):
- Paper based version: at least 540
- Internet based version: at least 76.
The normal requirement for postgraduate admissions are:
- IELTS (Academic version of the International
English Language Testing Service): at least 6.5 overall.
- TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language):
- Paper based version: at least 570
- Internet based version: at least 88.
Other qualifications may be accepted - contact the director of graduate studies
(Diploma, MSc, MPhil and PhD schemes) or the director of undergraduate studies
(BA, BSc schemes).
