Working with business and communities

Services for business

We offer a huge range of services to support businesses and organisations. At both our Colchester and Southend campuses we provide training courses, support, advice and the chance to work with leading academics.

Knowledge exchange is about the exchange of ideas, research and experience with non-academic audiences. There are many opportunities for businesses and organisations to get involved and work with us.

As a leading research-intensive department we can work in partnership with businesses and use our resources and expertise to support our community.

We have particular expertise in the following areas:

  • economic forecasting;
  • business intelligence for the region;
  • data analysis and statistical techniques;
  • process optimisation;
  • health, family and demographic economics;
  • innovation and technology adoption;
  • finance and capital markets; and
  • environmental economics.

Services

We can help in a number of ways, including:

Insight East

We host, in partnership with Essex County Council, Insight East; the economic intelligence centre for the East of England. As part of our work as insight east we have held business breakfast events to share expertise and create discussion about topical issues that affect our local economy.

Quarterly reports

  • Quarterly economics briefs

    Q3 2012

    Q2 2012

    Q1 2012

    We produce a quarterly economic brief that draws on information from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), the Treasury, the Bank of England, major business surveys and other sources.
